I’ve been thinking about low german audio since Friday’s coffee.
I assume through googling he’s found the little tidbits at http://www.plautdietsch.ca/audio.html,
but I just learned on Sunday that Jack Driedger (someone might know him from NPMC) who wrote a low german book about growing up in Blumenheim has just finished and audio recording of his book. I don’t know if/when/how the whole project will be available, but the Introduction and Chapter 1 are available at http://sweet.artsrn.ualberta.ca/cdcox/bloomenheim/?page_id=92
He doesn’t read too fast, it’s clear, and I find his “dialect/style” easy to understand.
I generally find many older folk are so completely enamored that a young person is wanting to learn low german that they will bend over backwards to help. I wonder if a request to Jack for an audio copy, so that a young guy can learn low german wouldn’t meet with a welcome response. I can probably get a current email address for Jack if you are interested.
